“Cannot say enough good things about Dr Harris and his staff. Over the course of 2 years + Dr Harris worked with me so I could have what I needed at the price I could afford. Dr Harris is a perfectionist which is a very good quality for a dentist. I’m extremely happy with my “end” result and can fully smile for the first time in years.
Thank you Dr Harris.❤️” – Kathy H
Dr. Harris comes to Edgartown with proven experience in all areas of general dentistry, including dental implants. Prior to taking over for Dr. John Hartley, he practiced part-time in Vineyard Haven and Brewster, MA for the past 6 years. Previously, Dr. Harris practiced full-time in Hyannis for nearly 30 years, where he was a founding partner in a group practice in Hyannis, which he owned, operated, and practiced in from 1985-2011. He also practiced part-time in Woods Hole for 2 years, from 2011-2013.
Dr. Harris enjoys all facets of general dentistry. He has more than 27 years experience in providing all major types of dental implant treatment. He can also provide endodontic therapy (root canal) and basic oral surgery services (extractions) to island residents. Patients will no longer have to travel off the island in many cases. Dr. Harris especially likes talking with patients to help them achieve or maintain a healthy mouth, and enjoy an attractive smile. He welcomes questions from patients regarding what types of dental care would best serve them for their long term health.
Dr. Harris grew up in Waltham, MA, where he attended the local public high school. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Cum Laude, at The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA in 1977, where Senator Edward Kennedy gave the commencement address. He graduated with a DMD degree from Boston University School of Dental Medicine in 1981.
Dr. Harris has been a member of the Cape Cod District Dental Society, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the American Dental Association for his entire career. He has served on various committees at the state and local level, including the Peer Review Committee, and has held numerous offices at the district level, including Chairman for two years.
Dr. Harris lectured for twenty consecutive years to all the second grade classes at the Osterville Elementary School during Dental Health Week in February.
Dr. Harris is married with two adult children, one of whom is attending college. In his spare time, Dr. Harris enjoys watching sports, movies, listening to music, and (weather permitting) sailing and bicycling. His favorite foods include Italian and ice cream.
